These countries would defend Ukraine if the gloves came off. They are already sharing their high end equipment with Ukraine. Trump throwing a fit will not stop them. France, Germany and Italy are thinking of doing the same. That is 2 nuclear powers.
Ukraine used to make ballistic missiles for the USSR. It is not impossible for them to rearm.
Joining NATO as it is yes for now. Being considered protected under article 5 by all the other members no.
